Human Rights Watch (HRW) and the International Federation for Human Rights [Fédération internationale des droits de l'homme] (FIDH) issued a joint open letter to President Ahmadinejad regarding the Situation of Baha'i Detainees in Iran.
Open letter to President Ahmadinejad on Situation of Baha'i Detainees

Excellency,
We are writing to you to express our utmost concern regarding the fate of seven members of the Baha’i community who are currently in prison.
Mrs. Fariba Kamalabadi, Mr. Jamaloddin Khanjani, Mr. Afif Naeimi, Mr. Saeid Rezaie, Mr. Behrouz Tavakkoli, and Mr. Vahid Tizfahm were arrested in Tehran on 14 May 2008, by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence. They are members of the national coordinating group of Baha'i in Iran, an informal body that was formed with the knowledge of the government to assist the 300,000-member Baha'I community in the country. Another member of the same Committee, Mrs. Mahvash Sabet, has been arrested in Mashhad in March 2008 and is reportedly still detained.
We urge the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran to communicate the place of detention of those seven persons, the exact charges brought against them and the date of their trial. We also urge you to allow independent international observers to observe their trial. The right to a fair trial, including public hearings, the prohibition of discrimination based on religious beliefs and the right to freedom of religion are all enshrined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), that has been ratified by Iran.
We express the hope that you will take those elements into consideration and are looking forward to your prompt reply.

نامه سرگشاده به آقای احمدی نژاد در مورد وضعیت هفت بهایی محبوس

ما این نامه را به منظور ابراز نگرانی شدید خود از سرنوشت هفت تن از اعضای جامعه بهائیان که هم اکنون در زندان بسر می برند، می نویسیم۰
خانم فریبا کمال آبادی، آقای جمال الدین خانجانی، آقای عفیف نعیمی، آقای سعید رضائی، آقای بهروز توکلی و آقای بهروز تیزفهم در تاریخ ۱۴ مه ۲۰۰۸ در تهران توسط مامورین وزارت اطلاعات دستگیر شدند۰ آنها اعضای گروه هماهنگ کننده ملی بهائیت در ایران هستند۰ این گروه با اطلاع حکومت تاسیس شد و هدف از آن کمک به جامعه ۳۰۰ هزار نفری بهائیان در کشور است۰ یکی دیگر از اعضای این کمیته بنام خانم مهوش ثابت در مارس ۲۰۰۸ در مشهد دستگیر شده و بنا بر گزارش ها وی همچنان در حبس است۰
ما از مسئولین جمهوری اسلامی ایران مصرانه می خواهیم مکان حبس این هفت نفر، اتهام های دقیقی که علیه آنها مطرح شده و تاریخ محاکمه آنها را به اطلاع برسانند۰ ما همچنین از شما مصرانه می خواهیم به ناظران مستقل بین المللی اجازه دهید بر محاکمه آنها نظارت داشته باشند۰ حق محاکمه عادلانه شامل جلسه استماع علنی، منع تبعیض دینی و حق آزادی مذهب است۰ این حقوق همگی در میثاق بین المللی حقوق مدنی و سیاسی که توسط ایران تصویب شده، آمده است۰
ما ابراز امیدواری می کنیم شما به این موارد بذل توجه نمایید و در انتظار پاسخ سریعتان هستیم۰
